A magnificent piece of architecture

The legend says that a poor monk named Beato António initiated the construction of this convent in the early 1500's with only 7 cents.  After the expulsion of the monks in 1834 it became a hospital and a cookie and pasta factory. Nowadays the simple magnificence of the austere straight lines turned this space into one of the most magnificent spaces for events in Lisbon.
